Many thinking Americans believe that some “new” way of analyzing and solving national public policy problems must be introduced (over and above these “Liberal”, “Moderate”, “Conservative” and “Reactionary” worldviews)in order to reenvigorate America's civic and political integrity. What might such a genuinely effective New “Worldview” look like ? The old “Socialist” worldview (located somewhere midway between a “Capitalist” worldview and a “Communist” worldview) certainly will not qualify (no matter what old “lefties” believe). Nor will a self-consciously “religious” worldview (no matter what Christian Fundamentalists believe). The answer lies in the re-structuring of all of the classical fields of human knowledge – including “Political Philosophy” – to fully integrate the extraordinary discoveries made in the field of “Quantum Physics” between 1923 and 1926. These discoveries, made by such Western scientists as Max Plank, Louis de Broglie, Neils Borr, and Werner von Heisenberg, radically overthrew the most basic presumptions of the radically materialist “scientific, logical-positivist” worldview imposed upon Western Civilization since The Enlightenment by such scientists and philosophers as Isaac Newton and Rene Descartes. Yet, none of the classical fields of human knowledge which were modified, during The Enlightenment, from their “medieval” (“superstitious”) form to their “modern” (“scientific”, or “logical”) form, have been “modified” anew to accommodate the data discovered in the second decade of the 20th Century. The key discovery of this period revealed that the underlying “source” of all reality is NOT some objectively “given”(i.e. “fixed”) material reality (“out there”). In this worldview, we, as human beings, are free only to choose how we are going to respond to this “given” reality by adjusting our internal subjective state of mind to that “reality” out there. Plank, de Broglie, Borr and Heisenberg discovered that, instead, there exists, beneath all said “material”(i.e. “mass” and “energy”) reality (i.e. as it’s source) an entirely inchoate un-“manifest” field made up of a substance which is distinctly non-material in its nature and that it is from this “field” that individual units of “energy” or units of “mass” arise. These units of “matter”, these scientists determined, arose up out of this inchoate “field” in an absolutely random order. That is, it was determined that there was no predictable order in which these units of matter arose in the “form” of “mass” or in the form of “energy.” The second absolutely extraordinary discovery from this period was the discovery that, by directing focused human intentionality to the otherwise random arising of such units of matter up from this inchoate field, a human being could influence whether this otherwise entirely random “manifestation” of matter would manifest itself in the form of “mass” (i.e. as a “particle” of matter) or in the form of “energy” (i.e. as a “wave” of energy). The third extraordinary discovery made during this period was the following: An experiment was conducted “splitting” the smallest possible units of matter in an “atom smasher” and then propelling the two sub-particles of such units of matter in directly opposite directions through vacuum tubes – and then directing human “intentionality” toward one of these sub-particles moving said particle out of its straight-line trajectory. It was discovered that the other equal sub-particle (at a great distance away) would also move, in the exact same manner, in the exact same direction, to the exact same degree at the exact same micro-milla--second. This experiment thus demonstrated that these two sub-particles were part of one unified field and that they, thus, “communicated” with each other at a rate faster than the speed of light! Thus, in one set of scientific experiments, it was proven that: (A) “matter” (i.e. “mass” and “energy”) was not in fact the common denominator, or source, of “reality”; (B) that there exists a direct and intrinsic organic relationship between “objective” material “reality” and non-material human consciousness, and (C) that all units of matter are, in fact, immediately and instantaneously “bonded” together, across all distance (and, perhaps, time), through the functioning of some sort of “field” and that “communication” between and among these units of matter takes place at a rate which occurs faster than the speed of light. And these realities were discovered between 1923 and 1926, but Western Civilization still functions as though the exact opposite were true – as was incorrectly asserted by Isaac Newton and Rene Descartes. This fact holds true in the fields of Cosmology, Astronomy, Physics, Medicine, Biology, Molecular Psychology and all other of the “physical” sciences. It is important to understand how these important physical discoveries might alter our human understanding in these important fields of physical science. However, this fact holds true in the non-physical fields of human knowledge as well. These fields include philosophy, theology, ontology, history and others – the most basic presumptions of which are often directly derivative of the physical sciences of Cosmology, Biological Teleology, Epistemology and Ontology. It is, however, more difficult for us to understand how these purely physical differences impact these non-physical fields of human knowledge. THIS is the task of “THE NEW PARADIGM INSTITUTE.” Most simply put, these discoveries translate into the dramatically increased recognition of the reality of the human faculty of “Intuition” and the dramatically increased centrality of the exercise of this specific faculty to the identification of the “Mode of Ethical Reasoning” of this New Worldview. The faculties of "Intuition" and "human intention" suggest that we are not helpless victims in the face of seemingly intractable political, economic and environmental problems. Together we are able to usher in a new reality. The reason why this aspect of “The New Paradigm” goes so far to explain to most people what this “New Paradigm” is all about is because it is the “Political Philosophy” of a given “Worldview” that has the most immediate and concrete impact upon the everyday lives of average people. A second aspect of such a “New Paradigm Worldview” which might best help the average person to understand its nature are the “technological” implications of the new discoveries which underlie such a “New Paradigm”, i.e. “How does this ‘New Paradigm’ translate into ‘building a better mousetrap’, a better television set, a more fuel-efficient automobile, a safer defense system and the like. The most important question which one is most likely to ask in order to most concretely understand exactly what is meant by any such “New Paradigm” is, in fact, very largely dependent upon one’s own presently-operative “Worldview.” For example: one who is a present adherent to a classical “First Paradigm” Worldview (driven by personal fear and an instinctive desire to personally survive the threatening environment which surrounds them) will ask: “How would the implementation of this ‘New Paradigm’ impact my personal income?” or “How would the implementation of this ‘New Paradigm’ effect our local law enforcement community or our national military defense system which protect me and my family from the dangerous environment which surrounds us?” One who is a present adherent to a classical dialectical “Second Paradigm” Worldview (driven by a “dialectical” desire to derive their sense of value and meaning from vanquishing “The Ultimate Other” with whom our community is in inevitable dialectical conflict) will ask: “How would the implementation of this ‘New Paradigm’ effect our ability to vanquish “The New Asian Empire led by China” or “The Islamic Fundamentalist Terrorists led by Osamma bin Laden or Saddam Hussein?” One who is a present adherent to a classical Conservative “Third Paradigm” Worldview (driven by an ascendant desire that our Nation State remain strong and superior to any other nation state challenger) will ask: “How would the implementation of this ‘New Paradigm’ effect our National Military Supremacy, our National Economic Supremacy,our Planetary Cultural Supremacy as a Nation State?” One who is a present adherent to a classical “Fourth Paradigm” Worldview (motivated by a scientifically logical desire to know how the implementation of such a “New Paradigm” would effect policies designed to generate “the greatest good for the greatest number of people”) will ask: “How would the implementation of this ‘New Paradigm’ effect funding for public schools, the federal tax burden of the average person, the ability of the average person to have their children attend college?” Most people are NOT (at least consciously) interested in the “Cosmology” of such a “New Paradigm” Worldview (concerned with where our physical universe came from or pursuant to what particular set of physical laws it mechanically operates). Nor are they (at least consciously) interested in the “Teleology” of such a “New Paradigm” Worldview (concerned with what the exact projected role is for our human family in the evolutionary unfolding of the physical Cosmos). They are more interested in: putting food on their table this month; making sure that their children have adequate health care and a good dental plan; and whether their local “Bears” or “Colts” or “Dolphins” or “Eagles” are going to beat the out-of town “Panthers”, “Rams”, “Seahawks” or “Falcons.” This is why one can effectively address 95% of all questions asked about “The New Paradigm” by simply identifying the “General Principles”, the “Basic Policy Positions” and the “Practical Concrete Programs” which are derived from any such new “Paradigm” or new “Worldview.” It is only for the purpose of answering the more profound questions of the other 5% of the people that one must discern, fully understand, and articulate the profound underlying premises and principles upon which such a “New Paradigm” is founded. And to be able to understand, what those “General Principles”, those “Basic Policy Positions” and those specific “Practical Concrete Programs” are. This is why there must be a “Cambridge Institute to Study Alternative Worldviews” and a “New Paradigm Institute” – to discern, identify and publicly articulate the metaphysical and Cosmological sources of these “General Principles”, these “Basic Policy Positions” and these “Concrete Practical Programs” of all eight paradigms, to place them historically and in the present through the identification of the individuals who represent them.
